Bethany Presbyterian Church is a small community church, striving to be a place of worship that is pleasing to the LORD, just like the Bethany of the New Testament was "a place Jesus liked to go," as Arthur French (BPC's first pastor) said.
But without people, a church is just a building, and so this page is here to give a little bit if information about what the people of our congregation do to further Bethany's ministry.
Our Pastor
The Reverend Samuel Roberts is Bethany's pastor. Pastor Roberts first came to Bethany as a guest preacher while were looking for a new pastor. God has his hand on Pastor Roberts, and has given him a vision of Bethany's future. Pastor Roberts is helping us to realize that vision, so that Bethany can be everything God wants us to be.
The Session
The Session is the governing body of Bethany. Every congregation in the Presbyterian Church (USA) has a Session. The Session is responsible for making the financial, executive, and administrative decisions that keep the church running on a day-to-day basis.
The Deacons
The Deacons are the group responsible for the ministering to and supporting of the members of the congregation. Each Deacon has a group of members (their "flock") that they stay in regular contact with, pray for, and comfort.
Committees
From the Worship Committee to the Christian Eduacation Committee, the majority of Bethany's ministry work is done through the work of these dedicated groups of men and women.
